studying with my sister!

A highlight of my Thanksgiving was studying with my sister. Now that I'm back in school, I had a bunch of work to do over the break - a midterm to study for and a number of books to read (I had put off a lot of work the past few weeks). Instead of shopping the day after Thanksgiving, we hit the local library in the morning and a coffee shop in the afternoon (but a little shopping in between :) ). Saturday was similar. I was thankful that she had work to do - she is a great studying partner! The picture below is of Lisa and I a couple of summers ago - I can't wait for a sunny day to hang out when we don't have to study. Miss you, Kidd-o!

neat things about today

I didn't realize that today is one of my favorite days - the day that they put the Christmas decorations up in the Nickels Arcade (where my office is). I walked through the Arcade to the great smell of pine, and I love seeing the lights out of the window. For the past few weeks each of the stores have transformed their window displays to holiday scenes, complete with frosted window panes. It makes me *almost* want to start listening to Christmas music now, but I must hold off until Friday at least.

Another neat thing about today is that my good friend Jenny has a baby boy! (Well, he came on Saturday.) But they are going home from the hospital today. I can't wait to meet Jonah Oliver, but it will probably be a while because they live in Arizona. This was one of the best surprises during the OSU game. I have to admit that I didn't answer her phone call because I thought she was rubbing in the game (her husband, Chad, is an OSU fan, and she's a MSU alum, so there can be some bantering in the fall). I missed one of the best phone calls ever! But I did listen to her message right away and call her back :).

Another neat thing about today is that I'm meeting up with a lot of students. I'm excited - it's been a while since I've had a day of student after student conversation.

What a great Monday!

Heard on the Radio...

Yesterday, I heard a song requested on the radio. But the DJ said it was an anonomous request. Why? The kid who requested it was cutting school, and didn't want his name on the air. I found this very amusing.
